How has your experience been working with Sri M?

It is always an awesome experience because we are working for a noble cause. It is for peace and humanity so we love it. Well who doesn't?

What is Sri M's academy all about and what do you teach there?

It is an academy that trains one how to perform art in the best way possible. The students come out of their comfort zone, but the way he or she is taught makes them really comfortable. We teach singing, instrumental and dance but this time we thought of introducing theatre as well so it is something new for the students.

What is the main purpose of the academy?

Our main purpose is to build confidence in students and to channelize their emotions. As a teenager, it is really difficult to be in control of your feelings and emotions. Through theatre, students learn how to be compassionate towards others and adapt to situations.  The stage gives us an insight of what we actually feel, builds self-confidence and self-expression.

Do you think your way of teaching is different from other academies?

At Sri M Academy of Performing Arts, students enhance their social skills by communicating with each other and develop a deeper understanding of social roles while performing them.

We want the students to love and enjoy the moment they enter the stage. We teach music as a therapy to kids. Theatre helps children to deal with stressful school schedule bring jo and add fun and humour.

Our key purpose is to get the students involved in music, dance and theatre, to give them a responsibility, to organize it, to choreograph it and to compose it. It builds one's personality and sharpens memory skills as the students memorise their scripts.

We got to know that the centre is teaching theatre as well. What is the subject about and what do you teach in it?

People are not aware about theatre as this is not common in Jalandhar. We are really looking forward to teach the students how to create a connection between the audience and the performer. Theatre is a part of everyday communication. For example, I am talking to you but if I will be expressionless in front of you, then it would not be as interactive. Drama helps in projection of emotions into fluent language, cohesive to the audience as well as your daily interactions. Any art form, whether it is Music or Dance or Theatre, it is all about personality development.
