Robohumanising

AI  has taken up an important place in the world that most of the schools have started teaching AI as a subject to the students. According to you what is AI?

AI stands for Artificial intelligence. AI intends to develop systems which can understand, think, learn and behave like a human, with high rate of accuracy and efficiency. In our life we are exposed to AI, once we are going for robotic surgeries, using Alexa or Siri (speech recognition), opening our smartphones with Face Recognition, choosing suggestion on online shopping platforms or opening GPS navigations while travelling.

What impact will AI have on India's Industrial hub in future?

AI already is transforming several sectors – IT, Health Care Logistics, Manufacturing Industries etc.

AI revolutionised the manufacturing process of FMCG by replacing labour with efficient work.  It doesn't require holidays, breaks, sick leaves, encouragement to continue monotonous task day by day. AI can give a better perspective for city planning as it considers potential areas of development, keeping in mind availability of natural resources and public safety. Self-driving cars will reduce number of the accidents and allow streamlined pattern to reduce traffic congestion.

Will AI prove helpful in the field of education?

AI will prove helpful in the field of education. With the development of Artificial Intelligence teaching role will be modified as facilitators and AI would create interactive approach for teaching-learning process, make customised curriculum as per students’ personal needs.

You have enlightened us about the advantages that humans will get from AI in future. As we know that every rose has a thorn so there might be some disadvantages of AI.

Artificial Intelligence is still costly as this a complex technology. Some people believe that it can lead to severe unemployment and humans will lose their cognitive abilities and skills.

Don't you think with the increased use of AI, there will be generation of e-waste?

E-waste is discarded electronic items which contain harmful to environment plastic elements, hazardous metals, especially the ones which go hand-in-hand with development of AI.  According to reports, more than 48 million tons of e-waste is produced every year which is due to constantly evolving AI technologies. This is a major threat to the mankind. Ironically, AI also comes as rescue management for e-waste.
